Carolyn’s Story
Carolyn has always been passionate about sport, health and nutrition. In 2003 Carolyn moved to Cyprus where she became fascinated about sports health and nutrition. It was here she began competing as a runner and a swimmer. During this period she began training for The Great North Run which is the second largest half marathon in the world and requires both physical fitness and endurance training. Whilst training for the event, Carolyn sustained a calf injury, but through intense rehabilitation with the help of Sports Massage and a personal trainer she was able to recover and compete. This experience fuelled her passion for a greater understanding of the human body and how understanding both mechanics and anatomy work in relation to recovering from injury, injury prevention and rehabilitation. In 2006 she trained as a Primary School Teacher where she taught PE. This gave her the opportunity to inspire children to lead an active life and enjoy the benefits of a fit lifelstyle. During this time valuable experience was gained in running instructor led classes for different abilities in order to accommodate all levels of experience. In 2009 Carolyn enrolled on an ITEC level 4 Diploma in Sports Massage and Holistic Massage therapy where she studied deep tissue massage, myofascial release, injury assessment and postural assessment. Carolyn found that many of her clients were commonly suffering with complaints such as back pain either through stress or injury which led to poor posture. This highlighted an issue that people from all walks of life suffer from, whether sports related or not. This inspired her to become a Body Control Pilates instructor. Pilates is an exercise system that focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve balance, muscle strength, flexibility and posture. 42809506_238359346831140_723410384289424 Pilates was created by German born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s and incorporates elements of yoga, martial arts and Western forms of exercise and has been shown to dramatically help with both preventative and rehabiliative applications. Carolyn regularly provides massages treatments and therapy for Dereham Football Club, Dereham Rugby Club and Triharder, Dereham Otters, Tri Angular (Triathlon group) amongst others.Pilates
Carolyn is a fully qualified Body Control Pilates teacher certified by Europe’s largest professional Pilates organisation, and is passionate about bringing the benefits of Pilates to everyone. Pilates is an exercise system that focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve balance, muscle-strength, flexibility and posture. It was created by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s and incorporates elements of yoga, martial arts and Western forms of exercise and has been shown to dramatically help with both preventative and rehabilitative applications.
